Refractive lens surgery
What Is Refractive Lens Surgery?

Refractive lens surgery, also known as refractive lens exchange (RLE), is a vision correction procedure designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. It’s most commonly recommended for people over 40 who are experiencing presbyopia (age-related difficulty focusing on near objects) or for those who aren’t suitable candidates for laser eye surgery.

How Does It Work?

The procedure is very similar to cataract surgery. The eye’s natural lens is carefully removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) that has been specifically chosen to correct your vision. These lenses can correct:

  • Short-sightedness (myopia)

  • Long-sightedness (hyperopia)

  • Astigmatism

  • Presbyopia

Types of Intraocular Lenses

There are several types of lenses available, including:

  • Monofocal lenses – Correct for one distance (usually far vision).

  • Multifocal lenses – Provide clear vision at multiple distances.

  • Toric lenses – Correct astigmatism.

Mr Yadav will help choose the best lens based on your lifestyle and visual needs.

What Are the Benefits?
  • Long-term vision correction

  • Freedom from glasses or contacts

  • Prevents cataracts from developing in the future

Is It Safe?

Refractive lens surgery is a safe and well-established procedure with a high success rate. Most patients return to normal activities within a few days and enjoy significantly improved vision shortly after.
